2018 Community Event and AGM
Allenton Big Local held its annual community event and AGM at St Martin’s Community Centre on 9 January. The event was well attended by local residents, delivery partners, St Martin’s Church members, and representatives from local groups and organisations.
Allenton Big Local Chair, Edith Lang, presented an overview of the Big Local funded activities that had been running in Allenton in 2017. Attendees to the event received a copy of the latest Allenton Big Local newsletter and an update on how much of the £1m Big Lottery money has been spent so far and the partnership members for 2018.
Mairi Radcliffe from St Martin’s Methodist Church and Helen Faulconbridge from Derby Homes talked about the work that is currently underway at St Martin’s Community Centre. The #AllentonBigBuild refurbishment is being delivered in partnership by St Martin’s Methodist Church, Derby City Council and Derby Homes. The Allenton Big Local community event was being held in the community centre’s main hall , which has recently been redecorated as part of the building’s makeover.
Catering for the event was provided by the Chatterbox Café. The delicious and warming food they served was most welcome on a cold night and was a taste of some of the great things to come at the café!
A spokesperson for Allenton Big Local said: “We would like to thank everyone that turned out on a cold night to support this event. It was useful to be able to share an update on what Allenton Big Local has been doing over the last year, and visitors were also able to see how work is progressing at St Martin’s Community Centre.”
