Join the Allenton Big Local Partnership Group and make a positive and lasting difference to your community

Big Local Allenton needs you

Election of residents to the Allenton Big Local Partnership Group

JoinUs (2)The Allenton Big Local area (which includes Allenton and parts of Boulton and Alvaston) has been awarded £1 million to be spent to make the area a better place to live. It is for the community to decide how this money should be spent.

The Allenton Big Local Partnership Group has been set up to help run this project, and is made up of people who live and/or work in the area or represent those who live and work in the area.

There are currently vacancies for residents on this group and we are keen for local people to get involved. We will be holding an election on 13 September where members can be voted onto the group – all you have to do is nominate yourself using a form which you can download from our website here.

Local people are vital to the success of this project. We aren’t looking for any special skills, apart from an interest in your local community and the desire to want to make a difference. We value the experience that all residents can bring to the role. This is a chance for you, as a local resident, to have an influence over how the £1million will be spent.

Being a member of this group does take up some time. We currently meet once a month to check that we are spending the money on agreed activities and that actions are being completed. However, it is very rewarding to see the difference that your decisions make and your contribution can make a lasting and positive change to the community.

If you would like to take the opportunity to be part of the group, please complete a nomination form and return it to us by 30 August 2014. There is a section for you to give a short personal statement, which should say a bit about you as a person, perhaps how long you have lived in the Allenton Big Local area and why you are interested in being part of the group.

To get a better idea of what the role will entail, you can read more about the partnership group here on our website, and read a copy of the Partnership Member agreement here.

Please note that although there is no direct work with children or vulnerable adults, as the position is one of representing the community and may involve contact with young people or vulnerable adults, it has been agreed as good practice that all members of the Allenton Big Local Group will undertake a DBS check.  There will be no charge to you for this.
