AllenParkCentreAllenton Big Local funds the Work Club at Allenton as part of our Creating Opportunities for Training and Employment priority. The club aims to reduce the barriers that job seekers face in gaining employment and offers support in the form of free access to computers, telephones and stationery, training in the use of Universal Job Match, coaching and support for individual job search, evidence of job search activity to meet Job Centre Plus requirements for those claiming Job Seekers Allowance, and opportunities to meet other job seekers.

Allenton Big Local has recently provided support for local company Ethiprint as part of the Big Local Priority 3 activity Creating Opportunities for Training and Employment. Ethiprint received £3,000 worth of funding towards the cost of training one of its employees in machine printing.

Ethiprint, which is based on Sandown Road, is a printer and leading provider of medical, healthcare and cosmetics packaging. Employee John Selvli (pictured right) completed a City & Guilds NVQ 2 in machine printing through Leicester College. NVQs allow theory to be delivered through training and course materials and the employee is then observed at work after each session. The course covered subjects such as the principles of print and colour, methods of working, and health and safety.
